On Saturday, President Donald Trump ordered military air strikes on ISIS planners and other terrorists in Somalia.
Posting on Truth Social, the president said, “I order precision Military air strikes on the Senior ISIS Attack Planner and other terrorists he recruited and led in Somalia.”
During his first term, President Trump was known for intensifying military efforts against ISIS. The most notable event occurred in 2019 when he announced the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
These U.S. attacks mark the first such attacks against ISIS targets since Trump returned to the White House. The president went on to say, “The strikes destroyed the caves they live in, and killed many terrorists without, in any way, harming civilians.”
Following the attack, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also came out and released a statement. He reiterated the point that no civilians were harmed and touted President Trump’s leadership.
He said, “This action further degrades ISIS’s ability to plot and conduct terrorist attacks threatening U.S. citizens, our partners, and innocent civilians and sends a clear signal that the United States always stands ready to find and eliminate terrorists who threaten the United States and our allies.”
