On January 20, 2025 12:00 PM E.T., Donald John Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States.

Immediately on day one, President Trump signed numerous executive actions such as unleashing American energy, restoring biological truth to the federal government, and ending birthright citizenship for people born to illegal immigrants.

Under the Biden Administration, millions of illegal immigrants crossed the U.S. border. According to the BBC, there have been over 10 million encounters - 8 million at the southern border - as of September 2024. Given that these figures were reported months before Biden left office, the actual number is probably a lot higher. Despite the record high illegal crossings, then-President Biden took no serious action.

To combat this, President Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border, which allows the Homeland Security and Secretary of Defense to complete building the wall at the southern border. It also allows the Secretary of Defense to deploy troops to the border.

President Trump’s executive actions are a stark contrast to the Biden administration. It showed leadership and showed Americans that he will follow the promises that he made during his campaign. The President also signed an executive order ending federal support for transgender surgeries, use of puberty blockers, or sex hormones for minors.

Conservatives and people of religion have widely applauded this as they believe common sense has been restored back to the White House.

The new administration has also proven to be more transparent than the previous administration. The president has taken on the press several times in his first week in office. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has also vowed to reform the media during her first press briefing on Tuesday. She announced that the White House will welcome independent journalists, podcasters, and social media influencers to the James Brady Press Briefing Room.

Regardless of political affiliation, it is clear: the Trump administration is ushering in a new era of change in Washington.
